I have found some posts from early 2000's regarding these two competitors. Have not used this type of product for some time. I believe that the skylight systems of these two companies are considered equal. Is that true? Input appreciated. Thank you.

Kalwall and Major compete in the Ohio market where I work and reside. I think they are the last two companies to manufacture the translucent fiberglass panel skylight. There are subtle differences in the way they put their panels together, but I consider them worthy competitors.

A client just asked me if I know of any issues with the panels yellowing over time. I don't, but have any of you all come across problems with this?

The problem has been resolved through improved coating chemistry, but talk of it has not gone away. The polycarbonate side of the skylight industry has let yellowing remain as part of the conversation.

In the parallel universe of roofing, the modified and built-up proponents still knock single-plies for seam failures, even though that problem has been rare since seam tapes were introduced in the late 1990s - about two decades ago.

A primary difference is in the framing to support the translucent panels. Compare details.
