Good morning. I'm currently working on a VA project where the GC has indicated he can't find manufacturer(s) for the various RES-# floor finishes. This being my first VA project I can't point him the right direction...but I'm guessing that some of you might have this info. Thanks in advance for your help! |

What kind of floors and conditions are you dealing with such as Lab, Kitchen, Clean Rooms, Hybrid OR, Mechanical Room, etc.? Epoxy vs. urethane vs. acrylic vs. MMA...? Rooms with windows allowing UV? Integral base? Lots of other variables. |

So, the VA assigns different numbers to what they want in various spaces: RES-2: Medium/heavy-duty decorative (vinyl chip) broadcast w/ integral cove RES-3: Heavy-duty epoxy trowel quartz mortar w/ integral cove RES-4: Poured-in-place resilient urethane w/ integral cove RES-6A: Urethane climatic (temperature swings) RES-6B: Epoxy non-climatic (high abuse) I was hoping (unsuccessfully?) that there would exist a directory of manufacturers who met the VA's performance criteria, along with product information. So far I haven't been able to find such a list online. |

I think you're going to find that every manufacturer has their own interpretation of what might qualify especially in terms of medium vs. heavy duty and high abuse. For temperature swings you'll need to know the range. For example will they be setting liquefied gas canisters down directly on the floor? The A/E needs to define what each system actually is. Great resource is Tom Dudick at www.Dudick.com, (800) 322-1970. He'll probably ask you about how each coating system is being used, chemical exposures, etc. He developed a lot of these types of coatings and knows his stuff. |
