We have a client who wants exterior lockers for employees. The project is located 100 yards or so from the Pacific in Southern California (and yes, the lockers are for surf gear). Can anyone make a recommendation? Not seeing much that applies in the locker manufacturers I'm used to using. |

Consider HDPE cabinets with stainless steel hardware. I have worked with http://desavino.com/open-air-outdoor-cabinetry/. While lockers are not a stock item for them, it should be easy enough for them to fabricate them. Michael Chusid, RA FCSI CCS www.chusid.com www.buildingproduct.guru 818-219-4937 |

Years ago, I used solid phenolic lockers (and toilet partitions) for a pool house, which, although sheltered by open walls and roof, were not in a fully enclosed building. They were exposed to the weather, just not to the sun or strong winds. As far as I know, they held up well. Oh, and they are in Wisconsin, so also subject to fairly wild temperature swings (from negative 20 to positive 90 - and with potential high humidity). And definitely stainless (316) hardware. |

I think stainless steel might be your best bet for this, and there is such a thing. I am not sure that for your project Type 304 would be the best choice (i'd probably try to get Type 316 here, if possible), but there is a product out there that would probably work well enough for the client: http://www.hallowell-list.com/lockers_qs_stainless.php |

For San Diego Lifeguard station, specified HDPE with stainless steel. |
