We have used this type of glazing on several projects and specified the following manufacturers:
Innovative Structural Glass
JE Berkowitz
Linel
Pilkington Planar System by W&W Glass Systems
RBI Structures (Cincinnati)
Waltek & Company

You can download a base spec here:

Thanks Richard, I spoke to the SE US Sales Mgr for Pilkington who in turn suggested I contact their preferred Glazing Contractor, W+W Glass, Chris from W+W advised they have never worked on a project south of Orlando. I will have to contact the other fabricators on your list. In So Fl the manufacturer must have a Product Approval or NOA, depending on what the Building Official will accept. Any product can be tested for use in So FL, its a pricey and lengthy process and w/o the Product Approval a permit may not be issued.

Jerome: My SSG curtain wall master includes provisions for Pilkington Planar and Innovative Structural Glass. I'll email you a copy in case it would be of use.

One should be concerned with the ability of the structural glass mullions to survive impact, assuming its not cable/truss/steel tube supported system. If the point support fixing or perhaps the centerline of structural glass mullion takes a direct hit, the framing members may be compromised where subsequent pressure cycles may cause failure.

I also understand that there is a reluctance to use the high performance laminates with such systems as they are very "tough"; fabrication difficulties.

I was under the impression that Miami-Dade hosts NOA reports as a searchable database. You might try searching there.

Bret, Planar Glazing systems are not included in the Miami-Dade County NOA database nor the Florida Product Approval database, still a product can be used if independently tested by an approved entity, an expensive and lengthy process. I brought up the lack of approval to my client, still they are retaining the system in the project manual.

Jerome, I have a couple large projects in S FL that has all kinds of non-approved features, including all glass storefronts. My clients are going with the submittal of calcs by an engineer approach for everything. So far, so good

Robin, your clients must be from out of state, locals try to avoid paying for special engineering.

They are local, but the projects are very design oriented. The all-glass storefront was a big item, so we spent a lot of time trying to find something with an approval that would work and couldn't, so the calcs/rational analysis is the way they are going.

I should add, i don't think it is going to work, for various reasons, one being the challenges of using laminated glass in all-glass structures
