Does anyone have experience using a compressible foam product like Emseal in place of the flexible liner and compressible insulation in the typical NRCA roof expansion joint details? Does it install well? Does it hold up? Does it maintain the continuity of the vapor retarder?

Darv,

I have a lot of experience with Emseal and they are a great company.

But, I never (and I never let our PA's) actually select the joint system. Emseal will come with their technical rep, or you can email them details, and they will do a complete analysis for you and give you a specific product recommendation, cut sheets, and if its a building where there is a lot of expansion joints, a good series of drawings showing what connects to what and how and with what products. That is for the most simple of applications to the most complex.

So contact them or their local rep and they will certainly take care of you.

Welcome, Darv. That is sound advice from William. If you're still in the Philadelphia PA area, you may know our local Emseal rep is Peter Lane Taylor at PPSI.

I have not encountered Emseal products used the way you describe, but my experience is similar to that reported by William. The company offers strong tech support.

>> No clue.

But I like EMSEAL. It's more expensive than it should be, but it's a lot simpler to implement, its easy to work with, they have good industry representation and support, and I spec them frequently.
