I am preparing a spec for a landscaper product called Silva Cells, which consist of Fiberglass reinforced, chemically-coupled, impact modified polypropylene grid system supported by Galvanized steel tubes embedded into the earth. This is used to span paved areas around tree roots. The manufacturer, Deep Root, offers extensive specs and info on their site. My concern is for the future deterioration of the galvanized steel tubes in SFL? Do any of my colleagues have experience with this product? I've never specified galvanized structure embedded in SFL compacted fill, seems like this would fail as galvanized metal does not hold up? |
