The designers are looking to use all black hardware including black lever/ rose/ cylinder for an upcoming project. I haven't been able to find any, and I don't think that the various dark satin bronzes will be acceptable. Is anyone aware of any US-based manufacturer offering a black finish for lock sets?

John:

This is a link to the ANSI/BHMA hardware finishes: http://www.builders-hardware.com/files/Complete%20Finish%20Chart.pdf

As you can see there are a few coated or painted black finishes, as well as some black chrome finishes. I don't have any experience with them, nor with their availability from hardware manufacturers.

Pretty sure Allegion Schlage still does http://www.allegion.com/corp/en/about/news/schlage-new-line-products-matte-black-finish.html although it's been a year since I retired.

A lot of rubbing going on; what kind of a site is this?

Thanks to all. Checked with Schlage (I still have a hard time with "Allegion") and it tuns out that that finish has been discontinued as a standard.

There are European-type hardware companies that will powder-coat hardware. FSB USA is one of them. I'm sure there are many more that will do that. Check with your favorite hardware consultant or distributor too.

Black porcelain door knobs are still available if you can do without the lever.

If the project is large, I bet you can find a porcelain enamel company that would apply a frit to your metal sets.
