What is "Viro-deck"? I see it on the structural and architectural drawing but can't find information on this product. David G. Axt, CCS, CSI, SCIP Specifications Consultant/Web Publisher www.localproductreps.com |

Sure that's not Verco Deck? It's a major brand of metal decking. The name is used in lieu of saying metal decking, sort of like calling facial tissue "Kleenex". http://www.vercodeck.com |

Nathan, Thanks for your reply but it is not Verco. I specify Verco decking all the time. Here is the structural note: Fiber-Reinforced Cement Board: Shall be "Viro-Deck" cement board as manufactured by Allied Building Products or approved equal. Manufacturer to provide fasteners and accessories as required to achieve fire ratings as noted on Architectural Drawings. David G. "Viroc is a monolithic material that uses two of the oldest components of the construction industry, CEMENT & WOOD, creating a new breed of flat sheet product, "Cement Bonded Particle Board” or CBPB." Sounds a lot like Fiberock, developed by Louisiana Pacific, sold to USG--and now, apparently, in limbo... Never heard of either Verco Deck or Viro-deck, but I'd guess the "viro" in the tradename is an enVIROnmental play... |
