I have used Corten in 3/16 thickness for a fountain which has several basins. When the steel is underwater it oozes a bright orange rust. I have a sample basin that has been out in the weather for 2 months and has developed a dark brown rust layer. When I put water in it large amount of orange rust still develops. I think the only solution is to put a clear coat over the rusted surface or sandblast and powder coat. Will the Tnemec coating stick to the rusted surface or will it crack a pop off over a short time? Thanks in advance for your help. |
