Does anyone have any lessons learned for biolabs; specifically finishes and doors and hardware? Thx. "Fast is good, but accurate is better." .............Wyatt Earp |

A wealth of info can be found here: National Institutes of Health Office of Research Facilities Design Requirements Manual (DRM) https://www.orf.od.nih.gov/TechnicalResources/Pages/DesignRequirementsManual2016.aspx Good luck! Gail Goldstead |

Hi Ron. What levels are you designing to? If you're dealing with BSL 3 or 4, or equivalent, I would recommend contacting Dudick for your flooring requirements, especially if dealing with liquid nitrogen. Very knowledgeable and great resource. I'd be happy to send you some contacts. As to doors and hardware I've had good success with Dortek and others on this page http://www.4specs.com/s/08/08-3970.html. The last time I worked on a hybrid OR facility we couldn't find a fire-rated hermetically sealed sliding door assembly we liked that offered a breakaway option so we had to add a swing door for egress. It's been a few years so maybe that changed. |
