Are any of you using SAA instead of NRC?

Should a manufacturer catalog list both?

Has the change in calculation method, from NRC to SAA, in ASTM C423 improved construction?

Regardless, shouldn't you be specifying what the project requires? Whether it's an SAA, NRC, or other rating?

Dear Guest:
What the project requires, presumably, is noise reduction. Both SAA and NRC are numerical values describing the noise reduction properties of a material.

For a century, NRC reigned as the standard descriptor. To simplify, it was based on measurements at FOUR frequencies. SAA is based on measurements at TWELVE frequencies across a slightly wider spectrum. Presumably SAA is a refined tool that will lead to more precise acoustic engineering.

I am writing an article for Construction Specifier and am asking for insight regarding the adoption of the new standard.

So far, I have not seen SAA used in specifications. It does sound (no pun intended) like a good development though!
