I have an institutional client who wants an open spec based around a specific manufacturer, but masterspec doesn't have templates for division 41 specs. Margaret G. SectionFormat is the same for all Divisions 02 - 49. You just need to utilize the appropriate articles as you develop your section. MasterSpec should have an "open" template for a section. I would imagine that there won't be much needed in PART 3 for example. I don't know how much specifying experience you have so a few basics to remember: 1. Since you have a model to start with it sounds like you have the salient features that your spec needs to address. 2. If this is to be a truly open spec you'll still need to make sure that there are other manufacturers who can meet the spec. Just copying the features of a product without listing the name is still a closed, proprietary spec if no one else can meet the specified requirements. Best of luck. While there might be loading issues for suspended slabs special attention should be paid for slabs on grade. Typically these slabs are not designed for forklift loads. The subgrade has a lot of influence in these situations. Litigation has resulted from a failure to consider these issues. Also pay attention to the acceptable tolerance for floor levelness.
