Have a project where zinc countertops are being used. Would appreciate it if anyone has a specification that I could use to make a start on this? J. Peter Jordan, FCSI, AIA, CCS, LEED AP, SCIP

Peter, Have you thought about using ARCOM Div 05 Decor Formed Metal master as starting basis and modify accordingly, also importing some fabrication language from the countertop master (e.g., cutouts, splashes, edge profiles, etc.)? You could also refer to UFGS Div 12 Countertops, which has stainless countertops (among other types), for added reference. That's what I've done in the past for custom stainless countertops. |

Peter - I got a lot of help learning about all things zinc from these guys: http://www.zinc.org We had a presentation from them - I don't remember if it was at CSI or at my firm - that was very helpful. This goes back probably 20 years now, but I'd still recommend them as a starting point. |

I recall from when zinc roofs were big in the early 90s that the underside needed to be ventilated or they would corrode. That might be tough to do on a countertop. |
