in google search all I am finding are builders and operators of obstacle courses. Has anyone spec'd a wood log obstacle course? I assume if no spec appears, I can rough up rough carpentry a bit and issue that....? Assume pine logs (straight wood and lower price) strip bark off to be round, apply sealer, assemble with lag bolts, footings, etc... help! |

The last time I did one, the spec read, "Take a group of 14 y.o. youth into the woods with a saw, an axe, and a coil of rope. But if I was doing one today, it would probably have safety harnesses, too. Michael Chusid, RA FCSI CCS www.chusid.com www.buildingproduct.guru 818-219-4937 |

I'd be concerned about knots and branches. Be sure all protrusions are ground flush and sanded smooth. |

With all due respect to the old "Cowboy after OSHA" poster: If I couldn't find a firm offering material + installation labor (plus insurance) for such an installation, I would recommend to the owner that they not issue such a specification. The first time little Ichabod trips and breaks his leg, his outraged attorney parents will be after the owner, the architect, and the specifier. |
