I wasn't sure which thread to put this on? A question came up about roof jacks on a single ply membrane flat commercial roof. I had not heard this term used regarding this type of roof, can any of my peers shed some light? I've asked the Roofing Consultant, until I hear back from him, I thought I'd check here .

A roof jack is a device that helps seal off a roof penetration and ties back into the roofing membrane. Roof jacks for single ply roofing membranes are typically constructed of the same material as the roof and can be either heat-welded, solvent-welded, or adhered to the membrane depending on the type of material.

Johns Manville shows the roof jack as a sheet metal product that the single-ply membrane attaches to.
