We've got a project with existing polished granite flooring that the team would like to refinish it in place to something approximating a honed finish. Has anyone tried this before? The material is 3/4 inch thick. Fortunately they have some attic stock material that can be used for testing before undertaking the floor proper.

Thanks.

I've specified refinished granite, and its entirely dependent on the local talent who will be doing the work. They will be bringing in "hand tools" to do the work, not huge machinery. Talk to some local finishers, see what they can do, and then either specify them as sole source, or talk to the owner about a separate contract for the flooring.
